Vintage Music: And I Love Her By The Beatles

One day one of my best friends bought me a CD of the Best of the Beatles. I thought it to be quite odd, since I never really listened to very much of the Beatles during that time. I did not have one record by them, but somehow the music was and still is very much apart of me. It is that type of music you may never own, but know all the words too whenever it’s played on the radio, or you just suddenly start humming a verse out of the blue for no reason at all. It is amazing how much The Beatles’s are apart of the fabric of our deep subconsciousness, whether we want it to be or not. Lately, I have been revisiting that CD and exploring every aspect of it, as I do with jazz. It brings me back to memories of my childhood, but mostly my dad who loved to listen to Latin Bolero’s in NYC on the radio, but whenever we drove down south we’d lose the Spanish station. As a result, we listen to this type of American music. Forever in my heart and soul! Rip to my dad and the rest!

Thanks to youtube’s Pricillajens for this wonderful clip of the Beatles’s song “And I Love Her” played to some wonderful photos of some of the greatest leading lady actresses of Hollywood from the vintage era! Loved this!

Here is her wonderful write up:

Vintage Music: Downtown – Petula Clark

When I was a little girl living uptown this was one of my favorite theme songs, especially whenever we went to Times Square NYC. I still hear this song any time I go “Downtown”! Everyone has a “Downtown” right? So enjoy!

Vintage Music: The Beau Brummels 1965

Aww,thanks to raloydz post on youtube, I am remembering the days when we used to come home from school and watch the Flintstones. This episode “Shimrock Go Go” was one of my favorites! Could it be it reminds me of one of my favorite vintage songs??

Vintage Music: Sugar Honey Honey Song 1969

Heard this song today and was immediately thrown back to my childhood. One of those corny good feeling songs that you never forget.

Vintage Music: Winter Wonderland By Doris Day

via Theodumus

Doris Day was born Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff on April 3, 1924. She was an American film and television actress, singer, and animal rights activist. I remember her most as a child from the film “Pajama Game” and the scene in the film “Henando’s Hideaway”. I am a die hard fan of Ella Fitzgerald, but I must say that Doris Day’s version of “Fly Me To the Moon” is most dreamy.

Vintage Music : 1960s Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by The Shirelles

Got this little piece of history from Mp3SuperSound uploads on youtube. What a great sound for a old black and white clip of the Shirelles! We love to find old videos of vintage groups rather than pictures with music. It just reminds us of why we do what we do in preserving past treasures. It also keep us rocking in the shop and yes every now and then you just might catch us breaking out in a twist. LOL! We appreciate others who share that same interest and love to share, so thank you Mp3SuperSound.

Vintage Music: “Hey Love” by the Delfonics

This is sound of today at Leaf and Bark Vintage. Yesiree! Taking it back to Vintage Old School Soul! This is by the drastically and dangerous sounds of the Delfonics. Why? Because when boomers heard this cut “Hey Love”, OMG! LOL! Nothing like the old stuff. Sorry, Generation X! One proud boomer! Can I get a like!
